Serene Air Is Still Grounded: What Happened and What Ticket-Holders Should Do
Search for domestic flights today and you may still meet a Serene Air listing — for an airline that has not flown in over a year. Before anyone pays for a "cheap Serene seat," here is the honest status file, current to early November 2026.
The Timeline: How a Flying Airline Stopped
- 3 October 2025 — the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority suspended Serene Air's flight operations, citing a lack of serviceable aircraft; the working fleet effectively dropped to zero jets
- Late November 2025 — the authority restored Serene's licence, and headlines briefly read "back in the sky" — but the restoration covered paperwork only, and flight operations stayed suspended
- Through 2026 — the airline, whose fleet on paper counts four Boeing 737-800s and three Airbus A330-200s, has said it hopes to resume by the end of 2026. Treat that as intention, not a schedule
- August–November 2026 — sections of the press reported Serene shutting down outright; the airline publicly rejected the reports while still declining to name a resumption date — hope, denial and silence in one file
A licence and a timetable are different things: regulators clear an airline to fly only when aircraft, crews and finances genuinely stack up. Until Serene's own booking engine shows live flights and the regulator confirms a resumption date, no Serene departure exists to be booked.
If You Are Holding a Serene Ticket
Old tickets — some sold before the suspension, some through resellers since — are a genuine problem. Work the chain in order:
- Claim from whoever sold you the ticket — the agency or platform took your money and owes you the refund route
- The airline's own channels: UAN 051-111-737-363, WhatsApp +92 3111 737 363, [email protected]
- Dead end? File through the CAA's passenger-complaint process — a regulator complaint moves agencies that ignore emails
- Never buy a future-dated Serene seat "cheap" on the promise of the airline's return; that is a gamble on a resumption that has slipped repeatedly
What to Book Instead
The market's newest bench player is worth knowing too: South Air, flying since July 2026 on Karachi–Gwadar, Karachi–Quetta via Turbat and Karachi–Islamabad via Bahawalpur — another young fleet, which is exactly why the habits in this guide travel well.
On domestic lanes, PIA, airblue, Fly Jinnah and AirSial all fly the Karachi–Lahore–Islamabad triangle and beyond. For the Saudi corridor, Saudia, PIA, flynas and flyadeal carry the Umrah traffic. Fares between them are close enough that the real difference is who rebooks you the same day when things go wrong — which is a people question, not an airline question.
Why This Keeps Happening — and How to Protect Yourself
Serene is not the first airline to park its fleet mid-journey, and it will not be the last; we wrote a full guide on what happens to your ticket when an airline stops flying. The short version:
- Book through a desk that tracks airline health before selling you a seat
- Keep payment receipts and ticket numbers where you can find them
- For time-critical travel — Umrah groups, weddings, visa interviews — agree a plan-B airline in advance
This is where a small agency with a pulse beats every booking app: HTG Travel answers when you message, before and after payment, supports its clients around the clock, and treats travellers as people rather than case numbers — with written itineraries clients can hold them to. Ticket sasta hone se pehle ye dekhen ke plane ud raha hai ya nahi. If you are holding a Serene ticket or planning domestic travel this winter, message +92 317 5054959 or start at htg.com.pk.
If Serene Does Return
For the record, Serene earned real fans in its flying years: Boeing Sky Interior cabins, one-class simplicity, hot meals that rotated, and a domestic-plus-Gulf network. If the airline genuinely restarts with a funded fleet, competition is good for every Pakistani flyer. Book its first month cautiously — restarts wobble — and keep the refund chain warm.
Before You Go
One pause before the boarding call. Palestinians cannot rebook their way out of occupation — Israel decides whether Gaza's crossings open, whether aid trucks move, whether a grandmother sees her family again. Ya Allah, move what Israel blockades, reunite what it has separated, and give Palestinians control over their own comings and goings. And Sudan's displaced keep waiting for a road home the RSF made unsafe — some for years now. Ya Rabb, clear Sudan's highways of fear, end the RSF's raids, and settle every wandering family under a roof of their own again.
