Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Abolished Visas for Each Other: The Read for Ordinary Green Passports
On 1 October 2026, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia approved a reciprocal visa-exemption agreement: holders of diplomatic and special passports travel between the two countries visa-free, for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. For two of the three countries Pakistani travelers hear about most — the Gulf's Saudi Arabia and the holiday-and-hub favourite Türkiye — that is a genuine shift in how their officials move.
And Pakistan? Initially left out of this particular deal — though Islamabad had already signed its own waiver with Riyadh on 22 September 2026, covering diplomatic, official and special passports, as our Pakistan–Saudi visa waiver guide breaks down in full. The August 2026 Makkah defence pact had pulled Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia closer; the visa files are following the diplomacy.
Here is the honest read: what these waivers actually signal, and — the part that matters to the 240 million of us holding ordinary green passports — exactly what still stands between you and each of those two countries.
What the Two Deals Actually Do
- Türkiye–Saudi (1 October 2026): diplomatic and special passport holders cross visa-free, 90 days within 180
- Pakistan–Saudi (22 September 2026): diplomatic, official and special passports — signed in New York by Ishaq Dar and Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the UN General Assembly's sidelines
- Türkiye–Pakistan: no equivalent exemption exists — the ordinary-passport reality for Türkiye is unchanged
Read the pattern plainly: these clubs issue membership by passport class, not by friendship. Governments are easing movement for the people governments send — delegations, military courses, summits. The warm headlines about "visa-free travel" are true for a few thousand passports, not for a nation of travelers.
What an Ordinary Pakistani Passport Still Needs for Türkiye
The Türkiye file has two honest routes, and both are already mapped in detail on this site:
- The conditional e-visa fast lane — if you hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK or a Schengen country, you file the Turkish e-visa online in minutes; the full manual, including the airline check that catches everyone, is our Türkiye e-visa fast lane guide
- The sticker visa — everyone else applies through the embassy route; the sticker visa guide covers documents, timelines and the honest math on when the sticker beats the fast lane
What an Ordinary Pakistani Passport Still Needs for Saudi Arabia
The same two-door reality our Saudi guides have documented all year:
- Pakistan is not on Saudi Arabia's eVisa country list — the online tourist lane opens for ordinary green passports only through the conditional Western-visa route (a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa or residence), explained in the Western-visa lane guide
- The Umrah visa — the door most Pakistani travelers actually use, and the most underrated: it travels between Saudi cities freely and, on the new one-year multiple-entry version, covers repeat trips on one approval
- The embassy visit-visa lane — document-heavy, agent-routed, and exactly the file a desk handles weekly
The full comparison lives in our Saudi tourist eVisa vs Umrah visa guide.
Why Watch Waivers You Can't Use?
Because direction matters. Three years ago, none of these corridors had any waiver conversation; today the Gulf is signing them in consecutive weeks. The pathway for ordinary passports historically follows the official pathway — slowly, partially, and never automatically. Meanwhile the practical play for Pakistani travelers is unchanged: build the file you can build — the Western visa that unlocks Türkiye's fast lane and Saudi's e-visa lane, or the Umrah visa that needs no Western file at all.
Your short checklist for either door:
- Passport with six months' validity and blank pages
- Route decision — fast lane vs sticker (Türkiye); eVisa lane vs Umrah visa vs embassy (Saudi)
- Supporting documents matched to the route — the wrong stack is the top refusal reason
- Insurance, funds proof and return ticket aligned with the dates on the file
This is precisely the fork where a desk earns its fee: reading which lane your passport actually qualifies for, before you pay for the wrong one. HTG Travel files both Türkiye and Saudi corridors weekly, states every fee in writing, and answers on WhatsApp at +92 317 5054959 or online at htg.com.pk. Passport ka class pehle check karo, phir visa ka route — ulta karo to fees waste hoti hai.
Before You Go
It must be said plainly while we sort passports into classes: the occupation of Palestine is a system that decides who may move — which Palestinian gets a permit, which waits hours at Israel's checkpoints, which is locked out of their own city altogether. Officials sign waivers and cross borders freely; Gaza's families cannot even cross to the next town without an occupier's permission. Ya Allah, break the permit regime that cages Palestine's people, move freely the nation the world keeps filing under paperwork, and end the occupation that treats movement itself as a privilege it grants. And in Sudan, the RSF's roadblocks and raids decide who may flee and who is trapped in the fighting — movement as a weapon of the war. Ya Rabb, clear Sudan's roads of every armed man, open safe passage for its trapped families, and let the Sudanese move through their own country unafraid again.
