One Visa, Two Journeys: Umrah and Riyadh Season on the Same Winter File
Here is the question landing in our WhatsApp more than any other this month: "Umrah to December mein hai, lekin family Riyadh Season bhi dekhna chahti hai — do visas lagenge?" The short, happy answer: no. An Umrah visa is a Saudi entry visa, and holders travel between the Kingdom's cities freely — Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and the zone-lit capital of Riyadh Season — on one visa. The events need their own tickets; Umrah needs its own permit. The rest is sequencing.
Which Umrah Visa You File Decides the Trip
The 1448 season runs under rules that reward planning (the season clock explained):
- Single-entry Umrah visa — the classic, cheaper file. The rule that changed: you must enter within 30 days of issuance, down from 90. Confirm flights first, then apply, then keep the dates welded together
- One-year multiple-entry Umrah visa — valid 365 days, with a pooled 90-day stay across all visits, and a fresh Nusuk package for every entry (the full rules). This is the combo traveler's visa: Umrah in December, football in January, no second visa file
- Every visa file needs its Nusuk-linked hotel and transport first — no booking, no visa, a rule we explain in how to perform Umrah step by step — and Rawdah and Umrah permits live in the Nusuk app (booking guide)
The Umrah visa cannot be used inside the Hajj-season blackout window — outside that, movement between cities is part of the visa's design.
And this winter makes the combo irresistible: Riyadh Season is live with Boulevard World through spring and the Six Kings Slam plays 27-30 December. The AFC Asian Cup was the January centerpiece — on 3 November it was postponed to 23 December 2027 - 21 January 2028 (our guide has the reset), which leaves this winter's Riyadh calendar to the Season's own zones and the tennis. One visa, two journeys, one calendar.
Two Ways to Build It
Plan A — one trip, eight to ten days. Land in Madinah for two nights at the Prophet's Mosque; Haramain or a Jeddah hop to Makkah for three nights of Umrah — the first night in Makkah done properly; then a ~1 hour 45 flight to Riyadh for two or three nights across the zones, the tennis, or a match. Fly home from RUH or JED. Riyadh hotels during event weekends behave like Jeddah at Hajj time: book the hotel when you book the tickets, and read the Riyadh Metro guide before you pick where.
Plan B — two trips, one visa. On the multiple-entry visa: Umrah in the December school-break window, then back in the new year for a Boulevard World evening and the Season's late-winter programming. If you were building Plan B around the Asian Cup, note it moved to 23 December 2027 - 21 January 2028 — a multiple-entry visa issued this winter will expire long before the tournament, so time the visa to the trip you actually have tickets for. The 90-day pool covers any two-trip winter easily; the rule is the fresh Nusuk package and permit for each entry.
Where DIY Trips Actually Break
Each piece of this combo is bookable online — that is not the hard part. The hard parts are the joins: the 30-day entry clock on a single-entry visa that quietly dies while you wait for a hotel refund window; a Nusuk package that must match your second entry's dates, not your first; event tickets bought before the visa exists; and Riyadh's King Khalid International still recovering at two terminals (the advisory), which makes a Jeddah-first routing the boring, correct choice. Jo cheez refund nahi hoti, woh sab se aakhir mein book karo — non-refundables last.
This sequencing is exactly what a desk absorbs. HTG Travel builds one-visa winter files daily — Nusuk-aligned hotels with the BRN ready, flights matched to the 30-day clock, event tickets the hour they release, and a WhatsApp line that answers when a plan wobbles. Quick Takeaway
One Umrah visa covers both journeys: single-entry inside a 30-day entry window, or the one-year multiple-entry with its pooled 90 days and per-entry Nusuk packages. Book Makkah first, Riyadh second, event tickets last, and route through Jeddah while Riyadh's airport rebuilds. The families doing both this winter aren't lucky; they're sequenced.
Before You Go
The pilgrim who prays at the Kaaba holds Gaza in the same hands — the same dua, raised from the same marble, must reach those who cannot reach it: Israel has spent years deciding who enters Palestine's skies and who leaves its ruins, and no blockade outlasts a promise. Ya Allah, open the road to Your House for the people of Palestine, end Israel's siege, and let the pilgrim's visa be the hardest thing they ever wait for. And we pray for Sudan, where the war the RSF began has scattered families across borders the way a river scatters seeds — Ya Rabb, gather them home in safety, feed the hungry among them, and let their journeys end the way this one should: at peace, inside their own country.
